My desk this evening seems to be the living room floor. Today we painted my daughter's room princess purple, so it's been a pretty stressful day painting a room with a 1 year old flailing a paintbrush one way, with a 4 year old screaming that we aren't letting her do what she wants. So now, my Truly is winding down while I get some extra work done. She's keeping me company catching up with her favorite Upside Down Show, while her younger sister has already crashed out for the night. I usually am on the computer late at night since it's the only time I can get anything done without having to jump up every minute thinking someone fell off the roof, or worse, stained my carpet.
Tonight's agenda seems to be aimed more towards creativity. While there are plenty of things I could be working on right now, like school work, typing up content for the online conference, I rarely have any time to sit, brainstorm, and be creative brainstorming my next move. I've already written an ebook, and the online conference is pretty much organizing everything that I have. All of my tasks that I need to do this week are things that are automated. These things I can do while the kids eat breakfast. Things that really do not need me to sit and brainstorm.
So as the sun has disappeared, I sit here, well lay here, ( I'm on the floor remember) and think. What am I thinking about? My next move. What do I do after the blogging conference? I admit, I've let my freelance writing slack a little bit only because I've been so involved in the blogging world. My choices most evenings are 1) submit an article query or 2) write up a blog post. Lately I've been choosing the blog post over 99% of the time. Why? Because it's more fun writing an informal blog post, see the comments, and tweet about it. Articles have become so hum drum.
So where was I again? Oh yes, my next move..
Well after the Online Conference, I think I'll start writing more, publish more ebooks, start an online course, but most importantly, I want to start connecting with my readers more. I want to know the people who read my blog, and I want to know the owners of other blogs.
Being an Internet Entreprenuer and Freelance Writer is hard work. If anything, it is more work than a 9 to 5, with a lesser pay day. What really gets me excited about working online, writing, and working with bloggers is the connections you make, from people you never would have met before.

ReplyDeleteYou're so right about this! I'm sure most people imagine carry bradshaw when they think about freelance writer... so they think coffee, meeting with friends and going out! but it's nothing like this!
