The Vegan Mommy Wannabe

Over the weekend, my younger sisters and I ventured Warped Tour here in San Antonio. Saying that I had a blast would be an understatement. Being the blogger that I am, working from home writing, and being a Mom, people tend to forget that I am 22 and still act like a 22 year old occasionally. Mostly when it comes to music. My daughter's and I love to jam out to anything that has a killer bass and guitar solo.

Waiting for 3oh!3 to take the stage with the youngest sister

The 3 of us.

It was bloody hot, and our youngest sister couldn't take the heat after a couple of hours. So our mother came and picked her up while the 17 year old and I rocked on for the rest of the day. We got to meet so many great people, and by the end of the day our feet were killing us and our voices were gone.

But how does this tie into being a Vegan Wannabe? Well at the tour there were of course a bunch of tents and one of them was about trying to go Vegan for a day. Not only is it good for your health, but for the environment as well. We signed up, got a little booklet and I stuffed it in bag to read later.

When I did get to the booklet, I was disgusted at what I read. Granted, I've seen documentary's on America's meet, and industrial "farming" of animals, but I think reading it, were I wasn't able to tune it out, it stuck with me.

So I went Vegan. Cold turkey. It's a little experiment I am trying to see how hard it is to stay away fro meat. My decision is based on my health more than anything else. I suffer from a lot of headaches and tension, as well as having an issue with my weight control. So from my diet I have eliminated meat, dairy, and eggs.

It's been 2 days, and honestly, it hasn't been that hard. I'm just pickier than before, but they are great substitutes like soy milk or almond milk that I had already enjoyed.

My biggest hurdle is getting my children to adjust. I have squeezed in some Vegan meals for them, and so far so good. Truly also loved the chocolate almond milk more than anything.

It's also important to take vitamin supplements in addition to the food you are eating. Both the kids and I have our separate vitamin intakes.

So Day 3 of this little experiment, and so far so good! :-)
